Reunion 2003 Special

* Comments, replies and input to this mail and the issues raised herein are requested. Please say something; let us know your mind on things. Thank you. The 2003 Reunion of the Evangelical Christian Union has come and gone, and the blessings of the program remain for all time. It was indeed a great time with God and each other and to relive great memories and fellowship together in unity as a special family, and to students, it is a testimony of what God can and will do through the spiritual training of today.

Friday night - the opening night, witnessed a special ministeration by the evergreen ECU Drama Unit with over 40 alumni already in attendance. Saturday was a l-o-n-g session from 9am to 11pm. The four session day started with Talk 1 by Rev Rotimi Andu in the morning, after which we moved to the fields for a picnic lunch cum interactive session. This informal time, coordinated by Mr. Kayode Fadahunsi, had most people contributing and being blessed by the mutual interaction, testimony time and a reminder of 'bukateria lunch in ife' courtesy of Spices. Among other special attractions there was the Reunion News Report, which is sent along with this mail.

The afternoon session witnessed a spectacular marriage seminar by The Omowos, and it was a great time. So many dark areas were brought to light and God really touched our hearts. After this, the ECU 40th Anniversary Cake was cut and we all had a nice piece of the large cake.

The session ended and then, we Alumni had a Business Meeting where the major discussion was on the necessity or otherwise of continuing the Alumni Body and Reunions. However, the need for us all to remmember our roots and maintain a good link with the place which we are so quick to claim as our place of spiritual foundation and growth was noted. Brethren, we should not be too busy to remmember ECU Reunion once in 2 years. This is the place that gave us a lot of what is making us 'busy' now.

However, it was opined that publicity of this event was an issue. Publicity is expensive, and help of alumni is needed on that. There and then we all made cash pledges towards publicity for the alumni body and Reunion 2005. Sincerely cash is a major need, and we are all encouraged to put in a penny or two latest next year. We also need to do something about a bigger bus for the fellowship, an alumni secreatariat and myriads of things.

After these, the elections into leadership posts for 2003-2005 were done. Below is the list of the next set of leaders for the alumni body:

PRESIDENT      -     PASTOR ROTIMI ANDU
V-PRESIDENT      -     SIS NNENNAYA OJI
GENERAL SECRETARY      -     PASTOR JOHN EWA
ASST. GEN. SEC.      -     MRS. KOLAJO
FINANCIAL SECRETARY      -     REV. MRS. MARY FADARE
TREASURER      -     MRS BISI AYOLE
REUNION COORDINATOR      -     PASTOR IBUKUN ODUSOTE
ASST. REUNION COORD.      -     ARC. MRS C. O. OSASONA
PRO      -     BRO BAYO OLOTU
EX-OFFICIO      -     MR BARINE GBOSI

Generational representatives and chapter leaders will be chosen in due time.
The night session was indeed a great crowning of the event. Barr. Emeka Nwankpa and Rev. Steve Okitika were both around with their spouses and ministered to us mightily.

There is no gainsaying that this has been a time of destiny with the Lord. We are steadfastly looking to the Lord to lift us up and make this a greater place, and Reunion 2005 MUST be much better.
Finally, here's a 2-year invitation: Reunion 2005 is on October 28-30, 2005 in Ife. It's not too early to make a note of that in some diaries. You are invited and expected. Do tell someone; and send in a donation towards the programme. We want to publicise it in the dailies, magazines, cable tv, etc etc...

This is a place of destiny; once again, we will meet Him here.
God Bless You.

* Here's saying a special 'Thank You' to all who were able to make it to the Reunon and to all who sent in their regrets for their unavoidable absence.
Publicity Bureau,
ECU ALUMNI
